Lenten Season 2019
Lent is a season of preparation. During Lent's 40 days and 40 nights, we hear the stories from throughout Jesus' ministry on behalf of the poor, the sick, and the cast-out; and about how his advocacy to them against the expectations of Empire brought him to the point where he gave up his life to show us god's response to our human penchant for legalism and "order" over loving kindness. It is a season somber in tone, deep in colors, and rich in symbols.
It is ancient practice during Lent to take on a fast: abstaining from something whose absence will cause you to pause and reflect. In modern times, this practice has shifted for many and today people might just as well take up some spiritually meaningful practice such as meditation, donating, or reading.
Please join during Lent us as we prepare ourselves for the events of Holy Week.
